In the wake of The Ocean Race, Genoa has taken a leadership role in ocean protection initiatives through The Genova Process, a series of seminars that led to the unveiling of principles in support of ocean rights at the United Nations Headquarters. The race will begin in Kiel, Germany on August 10, before continuing to Portsmouth, UK and Cartagena, Spain, before the fleet arrives in Genoa, Italy, ahead of the race start in Boka Bay, Montenegro on September 7.
During the stopover, the Ocean Live Park will be open to the public (from 3 to 7 September in the Porto Antico area of Genoa spa), where enthusiasts, Genoese and tourists will have the opportunity to meet the teams and sailors of The Ocean Race Europe and learn about the importance of the ocean, the challenges facing European waters and the initiatives to raise awareness on safeguarding the health and protection of the ocean.
